The Ultimate Guide to Engagement Shoots in London: Capturing Love in Iconic Locations

Whether you’re a lifelong Londoner or visiting this vibrant city, there’s no better way to capture your engagement than with a photo shoot in one of the world’s most photogenic cities. London offers a stunning array of backdrops, from historic landmarks to hidden gems, creating a truly special setting for photographs you’ll treasure forever.

Why Have an Engagement Shoot in London?

An engagement shoot is a relaxed, fun experience that allows you to celebrate your love while creating timeless memories. It’s also an excellent opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day, helping you feel at ease and confident. Many couples tell me they’re camera-shy, but by the end of the session, they’re having so much fun they forget I’m even there!

The photos can be used on your wedding website, save-the-date cards, invitations, or simply as beautiful keepsakes. Plus, if you’re bringing along kids, pets, or even revisiting the spot where you got engaged or had your first date, it adds an even more personal touch.

What to Expect on Your Shoot

An engagement shoot with me typically lasts about an hour, with a relaxed pace as we wander through some of London’s most iconic or meaningful locations.

It’s about the experience: Nothing is forced or overly posed. Think of it as a gentle stroll through London, ideally during the golden light of early morning or sunset, when the streets are quieter, and the atmosphere is magical.

The results: Within one week of your shoot you’ll receive an online gallery of around 50 edited images, perfect for sharing, printing, and enjoying.

What to wear: Choose something colourful, fitted, and comfortable for walking. Avoid heavy fabrics, large logos, or busy patterns, and feel free to bring a spare pair of shoes—I always have room in my bag!

Where to Capture Your Love in London

The beauty of London is its diversity—there’s a perfect backdrop for every couple.

West London: Hyde Park’s serene beauty or the colourful streets of Notting Hill offer a classic and romantic vibe.

Central London: Iconic landmarks like St. Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben, the London Eye, and Tower Bridge create dramatic and instantly recognisable settings.

East London: Industrial and artistic, Shoreditch, Regent’s Canal, and London Fields are perfect for couples seeking a modern, urban feel.

Secret Spots: Hidden gems like Hampstead Heath’s Pergola Hill and Garden provide a peaceful escape and enchanting views.

Why It’s a Magical Experience

Engagement shoots are about so much more than just photos. It’s a chance to celebrate your relationship, explore the city with fresh eyes, and enjoy an hour of uninterrupted time together.

Many of my couples tell me they fall in love with London all over again during their session, especially when the golden hour light casts its glow over the city’s architecture. By the end of the shoot, not only will you feel more comfortable in front of the camera, but you’ll also trust me to capture those unforgettable moments on your wedding day.

Q: Can I bring a change of clothes?

Yes but try and keep any bags to a minimum as I will probably end up carrying them for you as I’ll be shooting the whole time to capture all of those moments in between whilst we are walking through the city streets and we’ll keep moving throughout the session.

Q: What if it rains?

Assuming it’s not pouring down (in which case I’ll suggest that we reschedule) then grab a pretty umbrella and raincoat and embrace the quieter streets of London and jump in some puddles :-) There are plenty of locations that offer shelter: galleries or under the trees in the parks, or of course coffee shops which can be combined with a warm drink.

Q: How long with the shoot take? I usually suggest to allow 90 minutes to 2 hours to take in a good number of London landmarks

Q: How long with the shoot take and how much does it cost?

I usually suggest to allow 1 hour and we can choose an area of london that means something to you whether it’sthe streets of Notting Hill and Holland Park, or more city based around St Pauls, or a magical garden hidden in Hampstead. We can chat and discuss a route that suits you. This costs £700, discounted to £450 if I am photographing your wedding.
