Intimate Chelsea Wedding Photography

The 2020 wedding season hasn’t been what we were expecting. With a full diary of weddings lined up for me to photograph in March, almost every single wedding has now postponed to next year. With an empty diary I have been clear to take on last minute bookings. Couples who have maybe had to downsize from earlier in the year because they were unable to have the celebration that they initially planned but for personal reasons were still keen to go ahead, despite the restrictions, couples who didn’t want to have to wait until a busy season next year, or even some couples who were probably secretly relieved they were now able to have a smaller, less stressful and more intimate gathering without causing offence!

Most weddings have been a 2-4 hours long and have taken place in restaurants, gardens, parks, registry offices, town halls,, synagogues and churches. The weather has obviously been fabulous so lots of socially distanced, outdoor drinks to celebrate afterwards.

When you as the photographer are counted amongst the numbered guests it does make you feel especially privileged to be witness to the event. I’m happy that photography hasn’t been an afterthought on these occasions and in fact seems to hold more importance that a couple can have a beautiful record of an extraordinary time - and to be able to share with friends and family who couldn’t be there for the myriad reasons that are keeping us all apart at the moment.
