Destination wedding photography in St Moritz
Working with the incredibly talented team at Albion Parties is always an absolute pleasure. Their calm planning and creativity produces spectacular events that are a dream to shoot. This one was no exception! The two day celebrations included an evening reception at Chesea Veglia followed by a wedding day which included a ceremony at the beautiful San Gian church, perched on a hilltop in the village of Celerina. The extraordinary painted ceiling dates back to 1478 and was a perfect backdrop for the ceremony. The heavens opened as we left the church but we had a brief window to capture Annabelle & Davide in the forest on the way home - although Annabelle’s father’s classic mini nearly didn’t make it out! The party continued at the Kulm Country Klub - a favourite of Annabelle’s family who have a home in St Moritz. After the reception and speeches the whole party headed over to the Dracular Club for dinner and dancing to the epic Soul Jets.

Anabelle chose to wear a stunning gown by Steven Khalil accessories with diamond earrings borrowed from her mother, an engagement ring designed by new husband Davide, a Cartier Love bracelet in rose gold and veil by Zuhair Murad for the main part of the day. Later she slipped into a fabulous feathery Dior party dress for the evening to dance way the night to the amazing Soul Jets.
Getting married at the church of San Gian in Celerina
Until recent decades, it was thought that the church of San Gian was originally built in its current form. However, excavations carried out by the archaeological service of Canton Graubünden in the year 1974 showed that a smaller chapel once stood on this site. The chapel occupied more or less the south side of today's church, but it seems it was not connected to the small tower. In 1478 Bishop Ortlieb von Brandis had the current church built, along with the large late-Gothic tower. In 1682, the tower's large wooden spire was struck by lightning, and completely destroyed. The church was restored between 1973 and 1980. This is one of the most magical churches I’ve had the chance to shoot in - with a beautiful painted ceiling in pastel tones.
