Getting married in Dorset

Tessa found me independently through her own wedding research and I later discovered that she was marrying the brother of a friend of mine’s wife, as well as a close friend of another bride I had worked with - I love it when I turn up to weddings and see friends or couples I have worked with in the past and have a chance to catch up with them. As is typical of many of my weddings, whether in Dorset or London, the couple chose to have their ceremony in the local church to the family home in Hilton. The day was perfect, relaxed and each of the locations picturesque. It was very much an English country garden wedding.

Tessa’s beautiful dress was by Louise Selby. Make up by Caroline at Amazing Face.

Documentary wedding photography in Dorset

My photography at weddings is driven by a documentary style which means that you can relax, enjoy your day and trust me to capture your day as it unfolds rather than making your wedding all about the photography. Other than coordinating the family photos and the couple portraits, the rest of the wedding day I’ll be focussing on watching discretely as moments happen so that your day is documented as you remember it. Don’t worry if you hate having your photo taken, it’s my job to ensure you are relaxed and having fun in front of the camera and confident to be yourselves. I’ve been photographing weddings in Dorset and worldwide for over ten years and there is no situation that I haven’t been in when it comes to taking pictures at a wedding - dark churches, wet weather, challenging pageboys, demanding vicars - I can take anything that happens in my stride to ensure the end results are relaxed, fun and natural pictures.

Weddings at All Saint’s Church in Hilton

All Saint’s Church is a beautiful Paris church located in the Dorset village of Hilton, in a small valley in the Eastern party of the Dorset Downs. The church is a typical Dorset country church and mainly in the late Gothic style. Windows from the cloisters of Milton Abbey have been used in the church, along with 12 panels with paintings of the apostles. It’s a smallish church which accommodates around 120 guests with a main central aisle leading up to the alter below a beautiful stained glass window. It’s a elegant and light church that makes a picturesque backdrop for a wedding, set in grassy natural grounds.

Dorset wedding photography

Whilst I’m not based in Dorset, my wedding photography work takes me all over the UK and I have the pleasure and opportunity to get to travel to new and interesting parts of the UK such as Dorset, one of the prettiest counties. If you are planning your wedding in Dorset please do get in touch - I’d love to tell the story of your day.
