Getting married at Syon Park

It was a huge honour to be chosen by Bhavin and Shivani to document their marriage weekend in London.  Day one of the wedding celebrations was on a chilly but clear day at Syon Park.  Whilst Shivani was getting ready into traditional gown and jewellery in her suite Bhavin arrived by car (not the Indian traditional horseback!) for the groom's procession (Baraat) consisting of his family and friends singing and dancing led by a droll (large bass drum) player.  The baraat was met by the bride's family at the entrance for the welcoming ritual with the bride's parents.

Syon Park hosts many Indian weddings and so are experienced in the myriad of traditions that occur throughout the course of the wedding ceremony. There is so much to photograph, from the procession of the bride and bridal party down the aisle to meet the groom through to the rituals that take place on the mandap which frames the colourful parade and union beautifully.

After the marriage ceremony the evening was finished off with a traditional 'fishing the ring' wedding game - apparently to determine who will rule the roost at home!  I think they came out even on this occasion :-)
